The fact that all the Herefordshire clubs want to join that league & the FA didnít think about it is nonsensical!

Maybe the FA would've thought about that if the clubs themselves had given any indication they wanted to move, for example by following the correct process for such a move and applying to join the Hellenic by March 31. What was nonsensical was that they only appeared interested in moving after the constitutions had been released, even though the constitutions of their existing leagues hadn't changed dramatically. The FA can be accused of many things but they can surely be excused an inability to mind-read!

Fair comment, I shouldíve inferred that the FA are a bit belligerent & donít like looking at suggestions or ideas that arenít there own.

Lakenheath DID apply though...i am sure they were on the official list of applicants?

The article makes it clear the club themselves said they did not apply and the invitation for promotion "came out of the blue".

Thatís not what happened. They were asked if they were interested in applying for the new ESL1N & they applied before the 31st December. There was a meeting set up by the FA & interested clubs were invited. Certain clubs found out after the meeting & thatís why the Eastern Senior League has a full 40 clubs. Instead of the 32 that they were initially expecting. All clubs that were promoted into the Eastern Senior League, applied before the 31st December deadline.

I never said that the FA werenít helping clubs progress. What I do know for a fact, is that they applied for promotion before the 31st December deadline & it was directly for the ESL1N(which was a separate process than the usual step 7 application).

Can you supply a link to the website. The only Lakenheath FC site which comes up when I do a Google search is this one https://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/...eathfc01/319996/Home which has not been updated since 2016.

Sorry. When I googled I looked at the second section down without realizing I was reading a newspaper report. I don't know how to do links but someone has already done it. You are, of course, quite right about the club web site.

As we know Eaton Socon of the Cambridgeshire League applied for promotion but finished 7th and were rejected.

However Lakenheath, who finished below them and did not apply, were actually promoted.

The background to this is fully explained on the Lakenheath web site and gives a fascinating insight into the thinking of the FA,

You are considering 2 teams applying for 2 different leagues. How many times must it be explained that Eastern Senior League applications were on reduced qualification entry as a one off to populate the new divisions. Lakenheath did apply before December deadline. If they were invited to apply (as were others) that does not negate the fact that they did. Eaton Socon is in the UCL catchment not Eastern Senior League or ECL. In any event their pitch is 100 yards long and not 100m and cannot qualify for Step 6 entry on that basis alone. That The FA informed Lakenheath that grants are available is hardly a point for negative comment surely?

Re: [drblues] Essex step 6 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

SO lets see if I can do my count, and if I currently have the divisional make up correct

Eastern Counties League - Premier. 20 teams. All have their own ground.
Brantham, Ely, Clacton, Framlingham, Godmanchester Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Hadleigh, Haverhill Rovers, Histon, Kirkley & Pakefield, Long Melford, Newmarket, Norwich United, Stowmarket, Thetford, Walsham-le-Willows, Whitton, Woodbridge, Wroxham.

Division One (North). 20 teams
Five of these are reserves. AFC Sudbury, Felixstowe & Walton, Leiston, Kings Lynn and Needham Market. One ground share - Team Bury.
I am taking Haverhill Borough to use a different pitch to Rovers, but I think they sometimes use the Rovers pitch, in particular for midweek games.
The other 13 all with their own grounds are Cornard, Debanham, Diss, Downham, Fakenham, Harleston, Ipswich Wanderers, Lakenheath, Mulbarton W, March Town United, Norwich CBS, Swaffham & Wisbech St. Mary

Division One (South). 19 teams following the latest movement to Essex.
Two of these, Brightlingsea and Braintree are reserves. Five more are groundshares - Benfleet, Coggeshall United, Hashtag United, Holland and Newbury Forest, while Fire United and Lopes Tavares share the Terrence McMillan (which I have ticked for neither).
That leaves just ten on grounds of their own. Burnham Ramblers, Frenford, Hackney Wick, Halstead, Harwich & Parkeston, Little Oakley, May and Baker, Wivenhoe, Wormley and White Ensign.

Finally, Essex - which also has 20 clubs
Of these, Sporting Bengal and Tower Hamlets share one stadium (with I assume no head lease), while Barkingside, Enfield 1893, West Essex, Woodford Town and the newly added and name changed Leyton team are ground sharers.
So again, 13 with grounds of their own.
Clapton, Hoddesden, Hullbridge, Ilford, Redbridge, Saffron Walden, Sawbridgworth, Southend Manor, St. Margretsbury, Stansted, Stanway, Takeley and Walthamstow

Please post any corrections.

The final constitutions have been uploaded on full time over the last 24 hours so best check to that.

Re groundshares, looks about right except for the following:
- Holland are moving back to their own ground, don't know if it'll be ready for the start of the season.
- Hackney Wick still share at Clapton, the move to the athletics arena next to the London stadium apparently falling through.
- I don't know if Needham Market reserves will still share the main 1st team pitch or whether they'll move to the newly built 3G next door, which the club is using for their other teams. The 3G does have a stand and spectator access.

When I spoke to the vice-chairman a couple of weeks ago he said they'll be ready for the start of the new season.

For those who are fussy about these things, the new pitch overlaps the old one by a few yards but come on boys and girls, it's a complete new build so in my view is a new ground surely?

Yes I have an idea Tongue

Premier Division/U25 Development will be around 11.00am on Monday 23rd July - can't start until rest of steps above release their fixtures.

Following this week's Bostic release on Thursday Division One could be as early as 11.00am Monday 16th July, just waiting to hear back from Hellenic League regarding agreed Saturdays between the two leagues.

Division Two could also be next week if Beds County League and North Bucks League get back to me regarding agreed Saturdays.

Thanks, Paul, I'll update my notes with those. Holland can wait until move confirmed. Pity about Hackney not using the community track, was it an availability issueIn my notes, the May and Baker and White Ensign count as being "their" grounds as I do not have any alternative clubs to visit there.

No.

Once again this is down to the FA due to grant money available to Leagues that promote youngsters into adult football.
