... back on the Hinksey 'angle' - seems they might have a touch of the Highmoor/IBIS about them - only worse Shocked.

Big rumours from the Chat Room that the OSL were going to expel them anyway for unpaid fines and a poor disciplinary record.

Reportedly (someone quoting the Oxford Mail) they have been docked a further 9 points for unregistered players - which means the champions would OUP. They'd already 'lost' 6 points from two games vs Oxford Irish and Stonesfield, or rather had the games awarded against them?

Not sure if this is the full story - expect our local Oxon chaps can fill in some blanks?

This is their new website http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/afchinksey/

Can't quite work out if this is for their Saturday or Sunday side, though the one entry made is by the Saturday sec. They have come through the ranks very quickly in local football, they might have won the title of the league they have played in every year they have competed. A number of players have in the Hellenic in the past.

This is the line up taken from the photo above: Triston Lawrence(captain), Karl Adams, Craig Hanlon, Stevie Haines, Marlon James, Alex Fasoranti, Sean Flaherty, Stuart Parsons (assistant manager), Daniel English, Front row: Jelroy Constant, Craig Bloomfield, Jerome McCalmon, Luke Bremner, Micah Roachford, Neil McMahon.

I sure those travellers who take teams will known a few of the players from their previous clubs.

They are listed on the website as playing at Barton Village Road aka Headington Ams.

20, 16, 15 inc reserves, one more season and problems. No Gloucester Development, only North Leigh Res, AFC Hinksey plus Marlow from above. Maybe one division one in 2013/14 ?

Sharing at Headington Amateurs I think.

It's quite sad to see Marlow in the same league as the likes of Highmoor-Ibis & also Bracknell being stuck with a host of reserve sides

They're not laxer. They were in the past but not any more. I'm sure I've said this before.
The leagues have had dates set in stone by the FA for their teams at step 6 to get the 'G' grading or be forced out. This is the last season for the CCL. I think the Hellenic has the same deadline.
The Kent Invicta still has a few more years.
Once the deadline's up I don't know if every team will be forced down or whether they only have to go if there are clubs to replace them.

The non floodlit Hellenic clubs are getting very near to being to being just that. The league I think will lose (if they are forced out so to speak) Cricklade, Old Woodstock, Chalfont, Finchampstead, Letcombe, Penn & Tylers and Woodley, but please don't knock some of these clubs for not trying or not getting their grounds up to standard. Certainly Old Woodstock, Chalfont, Finchampstead and Letcombe have spent a lot of time and money on trying to improve their grounds, they are just knocked back time and time again by their neighbours and local councils.

The other non floodlit grounds as we speak are Lambourn who in theory might now have lights (not sure), Tytherington who are in the process of getting them, Easington who I believe are still waiting to move this is depandant on houses being built on their current ground. And Headington Ams and AFC Hinksey who should be sharing a new purpose built ground on the new Greater Barton housing estate which is currently in the planning process.

Cirencester Development seem to have left the Hellenic League.

Re: [acmold] Hellenic League 2012/13 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I don't see the need for lights in the Hellenic D1 anyway, as each Division in any case is very small there should never be the need for many midweek games.

Letcombe is a lovely little ground which would be ruined by too much development, Chalfont I seem to remember was quite a good set up just lacking lights.

Quite a few of the clubs without them will have a devils own job getting them, Tytherington are struggling and thats way out of town next to a Quarry! Still surprised Lambourn can get planning for them as the ground is in several peoples back gardens. Can only assume they maybe had them before. Cant see Cricklade getting them, but then Cricklade should never have been allowed in the Hellenic anyway, IMO. Bog all spectator facilities, been to better Sunday League grounds.

One would hope the powers that dictate such things give the clubs a stay if execution. You can see the problems this sort OTT grading causes on the Wessex thread, though their D1 is a bit large I suppose to suffer many non floodlit grounds.

Lambourn had lights in the Don Rogers years. Also I think the neighbouring tennis courts have lights as well, so they should be ok in getting planning.

Thanks for that. I remember when I went there I found some rusting pylons and wondered what they were for.

The lights went off to New Street.

Think they already have planning, when I went at Christmas they said the lights and the new stand from the Rosebowl would be in situ very soon Cool. The way the social buildings and dressing rooms had expanded since my last visit planning doe not seem a problem, though you would imaging in a place like Lambourn it would be.

Ground Issues apparently. Has been discussed elsewhere on the Forum. A search for Henley & ground grading should locate the appropriate thread.

Actually it's this thread

Northwood, Threave Rovers, Arsenal, Watford, Rochdale, Rangers (the real ones, NOT qpr), queen of the south and a few others.

Also the club almost folded at the end of last season, also just before the end of the season it was rumoured that they were merging with a local youth side and going to play in the Reading League

"There were fears that the Lilywhites, the oldest club in Oxfordshire, would fold at the end of last season after four members of the management committee said they would resign.

Henley Town had already been relegated from the Premier Division because it was unable to build a new stand to meet league regulations and the club had resigned from the league.

An extraordinary meeting was held at the Invesco Perpetual Triangle Ground in April to start the rebuilding process and encourage volunteers to help run the club"

from http://www.henleystandard.co.uk/...sport.php?id=1127770

also in the above is bits about youth and soccer schools so I presume this is where the talk of a merger and / or youth team came in. The article is slightly incorrect in it's details of the new manager he was actually at Abingdon Town as 2nd team boss for a while last year.
