Yes I assume he was a paid employee. He certainly worked for the club in question.

Bob Bishop it is.

Employed as The Man U scout in Northern Ireland for 37 years working up to The age of 86. He died in June 1990 well in his 90's. I had just finished reading the biography Bestie by Joe Lovejoy and there were details about Bob Bishop in that. He discovered other Man U players such as Jackie Blanchflower,Jimmy Nicholson,Jimmy Nicholl,David Mcreery, Sammy Mcilroy and Norman Whiteside.

His main find was of course George Best and is quoted as stating to Sir Matt Busby in a telegram "I think I have found you a Genius"
