They should do whatever they think fit within the confines of the spirit of the game. Its not Government FFS, "given emails" etc. In the end Shortwood can prove me wrong by simply indicating 1) they accept the decision taken and b) even if the league/FA were inclined to relook at the case they don't want a points deduction that results in their promotion and a pereception they earned it in the committee room.

For me the whole of that Shortwood statement reaks of being their own judge and jury and that in itself tells me this is about promotion at all costs.

Grief, there's some bitter people on here!

On what basis do you write that? I have no connection with any club involved. In the end if you support Shortwood you support promotion by committee. Having just seen the secretaries last word on the matter (next post) then it proberbly should be everyones last comment on it.

Steps 1-4 are a duty, step 5 to be hoped for and steps 6-whatever are an occasional option.

This is my last word on the subject

We have already accepted the verdict - the statement says that.

Disapointed - of course we are disappointed!

We have not been judge and jury - this whole statement comes from another statement made by the Hellenic League's own web site. Of course we will defend ourselves.
All the Hellenic League needed to do was to write to the club explaining why they took the decision they did and it would have been accepted immediately.
I expect you to say otherwise - that is your right ...
But that is a fact.
They didn't, would not discuss it and told us to go the FA.
Both sides have had their say, Us and the Hellenic. THe Fa have looked at it and made a decision . We accept that and move on.
This matter was not raised by us on this or any other forum - we have just given our side of the story once we were questioned.

of course its trying to get promotion, of course its clutching at straws, but wouldnt you try to grasp any lifeline for your club
it is a problem which should have been addressed when it happened, but wasnt, and now Shortwood have suffered

This 13 clubs into 12 situation has happened once before with Witham I beleive, and was what the FA were trying to address
Unfortunately they tried to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and was duly defeated.
but the problem is still there and needs addressing, and could be with any number of ways, all a lot less painful than the last attempt
(I havent said FA, cos we all know it was they who tried to address the problem, but not they who offered the original solution)

I really don't see what Shortwood have done wrong here. They have every right to ask relevant questions, which it seems they've done in a careful manner, particularly as they have been part of the ridiculous promotion bottle-neck at Step 5 to 4. Gresley only just made it, and if hadn't and we'd seen evidence of something potentially being amiss, i'd want to know the correct resolution process was followed through. Good luck to Shortwood for next year.

Agreed Hunter, its one of the consequences of the rediculous log jam at the top of step 5, where a number of progressive and well run sides are continually frustrated, ground down and fade back into lower levels or worse because of the FA's Hellenic like fence perching. Either restructure properly or at least, ensure there are regional inter league play-offs to give clubs something to play for. Also, make sure that clubs like Oxford City Nom...no we all know its Reserves play with all the rest in Hellenic 2 east or west. Now that is just plain wrong, one precious place blocked. Just a couple of points:
  1. Fleet Town for Bedfont Town? You have some information we don't?
  2. How are you justifying Stourport's reprieve?

Looks interesting otherwise

Latest from the new Bedfont Social and Feltham FC club set up http://www.pitchero.com/bedfontandfelthamfc/
says the the future looks bleak for Bedfont Town, but nothing definate yet one way or other

Re: [petermiller36] Step 4 2012-13 [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I cannot see what Shortwood has done wrong. All clubs want to strive for the highest level of football that they can achieve and they clearly saw that the Hellenic League, Oxford City Nomads and the player were in the wrong and in their opinion the matter had not been dealt with correctly.

What surprises me is the poor administration of the Hellenic League and the statement that the Registration Secretary was on holiday. In a League of this standing there must be an Assistant Registration Secretary who takes over his/her duties in periods of absence and who should have spotted the "dual" registration.

Also why were Oxford City Nomads allowed to get away with this? The Standard Code of Rules state -

The Management Committee shall decide all registration disputes.

In the event of a player signing a registration form or having a registration submitted for more than one Club priority of registration shall decide for which Club the player shall be registered. The (Registrations) Secretary shall notify the Club last applying to register the player of the fact of the previous registration.

It shall be deemed misconduct for a player to:-

(i) Play for more than one Club in the Competition in the same season without
first being transferred.

(ii) Having signed for one Club in the Competition, sign for another Club in the
Competition in that season except for the purpose of a transfer.

The Management Committee shall have power to refuse, cancel or suspend the registration of any player who has been charged and found guilty of registration irregularities.

Jim - i think this is in the balance with Retford, i cannot see anywhere that they have made a decision. All i can see is that the manager from last season initially said he was going to resign at the end of last season and then said he would stay on IF the money problems could be sorted. It would take quite a change around for that to happen, having voluntarily being demoted because of money the season before last and now seeking promotion again when the club were not paying their way last season even though they became champions.

My guess is that Retford have been told because they are not going up. That can be done before clubs are allocated to divisions. I'm fairly confident Gresley will come northwards, but King's Lynn's destination is anyone's guess, although they should come up.

Wow! They'll be doing cartwheels in Shortwood tonight! My spreadsheet has been updated to show Retford's "failure" and that Shortwood should now be up as a result of that. Out of interest, does anyone know if Bridlington Town got the ground grading?

Please note: This is NOT my idea how I think things will pan-out, rather it's my idea upon how I think the level ought to be split to be more equitable to more clubs!

Updated vis a vis Retford. I AM slowly managing to learn how to Googlemap, but it's fraught, lol. Now finished, given the selected clubs - and I have to say that on the map this distribution is actually beautiful; visually satisfying; and quire artistic!. I'll update further as and when any other extraordinary issues arising happen.

Been having a think about step 4 tonite, now we know all the teams that will occupy the step, and found a set of divisional constitutions that ought just about please every team at the level. Probably excepting Coalville Town & Loughborough Dnamo. Maybe slightly perplexing present IL1N incumbents (as I've really expanded their footprint - which was needed anyway).
On the other hand, New Mills, Halesowen Town, Stourport Swifts, Thamesmead Town & Chatham Town would likely be particularly happy.
If Shortwood United replace Retford United in step 5 promotion, then Aylesbury & Didcot Town would switch to S1C, Coalville Town & Loughborough Dynamo revert to NP1S & Evesham United return to S1S&W.

There's one rider: I'm useless with maps, so there's probably a few geographical finesses needed that you'll spot and which I'd be grateful if you point-out. Likewise, shout any improvements you see.
