I'm not naive enough to think that a site of this scale is going to be free from errors.

Already aware that:
some Step 7+ constitutions still display last seasons
some leagues are missing maps
most leagues are missing mileage charts

will work on those during this week. The software I have tested extensively though not in a 'live' environment but I am as confident as I can be that most errors will be content rarher software... touch wood.

Anything else let me know please.

Mistakes in step 7 (and I'm just be really fussy so don't worry!).

Beds - Shefford T & Campton could surely read 'Town' instead of 'T'

CML Harworth Colliery Institute and Calverton Miners Welfare to give them their proper unabreviated names

Linton Granta missing from Cambridgeshire League (unless you know something I don't?)

East Berkshire - Bracknell Forest (now in D2), Windsor Great Park (now in D2) and Wraysbury (folded) should not be in Premier Division - should just be the remaining 10.

Cheshire - spelling - Golborne Sports and Linotype & Cheadle Heath Nomads

HPL - Sporting BW should be Sporting Bishop's Waltham

Kent - Stansfeld O&B should be Stansfeld Oxford & Bermondsey Club

Manchester - Wythenshawe Ams - Ams should be Amateurs and Old Alts are Old Atrinchamians

OSL - Kennington (United), Stonesfield (Sports) Mansfield Rd (Road), Marston Sts (Saints), OUP (stands for Oxford University Press)

Staffs - Eccleshall AFC are Eccleshall Reserves

Wearside - unabreviated names are Boldon Community Association and Ryhope Colliery Welfare

West Cheshire - Upton Athletic Association

WMRL - spelling of Wyrley one 'e'

Wiltshire - spelling error in Wiltshire Calne Town's name - a 'k' slipped in.

And a few clubs like Benson, Billinge, Sutton Town, Holland and a few Staffs and Wearside clubs etc randomly have FC after their name - as all clubs have this at the end of their name just looks strange that these are someway deemed special enough to have the obvious included

A few more on similar lines to the Staffs comment above:

In the Staffs Senior County Premier Division, Newcastle Town, Kidsgrove Athletic and Stone Dominoes are all reserve teams.

Are you sure about Eccleshall AFC? Last thing I knew they were separately consituted.

Sporting BW appear to be just that as well, the umbrella club is Sporting Bishops Waltham but the football section appears to be just Sporting BW FC

Surrey Elite - Old Farnboronians

Aldershot & District - Aldershot Spartans (one 'd')

Surrey County Intermediate League should have (Western) at the end.

Surrey South Eastern Combination - division is called Intermediate Division One. There's a Junior Division One as well so the 'intermediate' is required.

A couple of minor amendments are required on the Isthmian League pages.

Dulwich hamlet and Cray wanderers require capitalising on the respective sufixes.

Isthmian 1 South table has an erroneous white block on the Dulwich Hamlet line of the table meaning that their row extends out of line with the rest of the table. You'll see what I mean when you look at the table.

Also found it in CCL Div 1 - Feltham (step 5)
EMCL - Ellistown (step 6)
ESL - Clapton (step 5)
NCEL Div 1 - Dinnington Town (step 6)
UCL Premier - Desborough Town (step 5)

Curiously, each of these occurences are the team listed as 7th in the table!

For the record I am using IE9 on Windows 7

Very minor:

League/Division names -

North West Counties League Premier Division (correct)
North west Counties Division One (w needs to be upper case, and League needs to be added)

Staffs County Senior League Division One

There are three teams marked "Reserves", one marked "reserves", and two marked "Res".
I suggest that, for consistency, "Hanley Town reserves" is changed to "Hanley Town Reserves", "Redgate Clayton Res" to "Redgate Clayton Reserves", and "Wolstanton United Res" to "Wolstanton Reserves".

As PMd to you, Staffs County Senior League Division Two is missing.

The club is actually called Barnston Association FC, but on the club website and in league fixtures, tables, etc. they tend to be called Barnston AFC.

I think I have fixed just about everything mentioned except the above (the withdrawl seems to have been reversed?) and Staffs Division 2 to add.

For the past 36 hours it has been painfully slow going to the "Fixtures and Results" page after I have logged in as an Administrator. Just now it took 1 min 15 seconds, last night I gave up after waiting a few minutes with the "Loading" message showing.

I have now entered a single fixture, pressed "add fixtures" and "Loading" took 4 minutes! This happening after each set of fixtures is added.

I have had the same problem since I started. My initial aim was to do some inputting in most leagues as and when I have some time. We had to cut down the leagues to the ones that are starting this week so I could get a response from the server as it was timing out with such a large request for all leagues.

I've added the fixtures now but the process is painfully slow, it took all night to add fixtures for 6 or 7 divisions and adding 1 fixture on a particular day seems no quicker than adding 10 fixtures. Luckily I was doing other work at the time so I just let it chug along whilst I carried on with something else.

Steve seemed to think it was possibly my internet connection but I have tried this at home on a cable connection and at work on a BT connection and both are the same.

It appears either the database queries are sapping the server or the server may just not be powerful enough? Possibly a shared server?

I run much more complicated database queries on my own site and they return within seconds.

Anyway this isn't a criticism it's just teething problems no doubt and are inevitable in such a task.

The system is very intuitive for inputting but the current time lag makes it virtually unusable at the moment.

Regarding the Surrey Elite - what info do you need to create a map? And do you have to have the attendance table in there as the attendances aren't published by the league and only a few clubs bother to record them. That's probably true of most step 7 and below leagues.
Also on the Surrey Elite you may as well put 'step 7' as the level even though it's not officially. Promotes to Combined Counties Division 1 and relegates to Surrey County Intermediate (Western) and Surrey South Eastern Combination. Of course, officially it could promote to other step 6 leagues and relegate to other step 8 but those will be the main ones.

In the Conference the Forest Green Rovers v Stockport County match being played this Friday [12th August] is shown as kicking off at 17.45 hours. In fact the kick off is 7.45pm or 19.45 hours.

To make a map I need a excel sheet with two columns, club and postcode. You can add other columns if you wish such as ground name and/or address, which are displayed when the marker is clicked on but only the first two columns are essential.

Pretty much all of Step 7+ still need maps if anyone fancies doing some other leagues in this format. Just email me the sheets as attachments steve-at-nonleaguematters.co.uk

Hiding the attendances table on leagues that don't issue them is already in the improvements thread but it will have to wait for the next software update as I didn't think to put this in the original design specs.

You are supposed to be able to enter fixtures without a kick off time so I will get this fixed as a bug when Database Chris comes back off holiday along with the slow loading in the admin. I guess in the meantime you can put in 00:01 or something?

It's the mileages as well as the names that are wrong.

It came to light when I noticed the large distance between Runcorn Linnets and Runcorn Town. Then I noticed that it was Rochdale Town which has been included.

With respect dont think thats a good idea as we all ready now at present you cant altar k/o times with out haveing too completely reset each fixture. Better sugestion is may be assume inteligent guess as too propper time off each fixture.
Not so hard as most will be 1500H/1945H through steps 1-6 for most off season. Hellenic are often 1930H and one or two others vary a little too, but you can get used too whitch leagues do this.
Also some leagues have earlier games in middwinter so watch out for odd changes to k/o times from Nov too Mar particulierly.

Always can check out a feww indevidual web sites too get a leagues 'lay of the land' so too speak. But for one off odd k/o times theirs no substitute for close scrutiny Im afraid.

Yes, I only suggested 00:01 because it's then obvious that the kick off time isn't known in case the editor doesn't have the time to do the research you suggest.
When I was testing the site before it went live the kick off time was a compulsory field. I had them remove that to make it optional but I didn't find out until now that it then means the fixture isn't saved.

Here's a new one.
Just entered the second set of results for the CCL and I see the average attendances are wrong. The website's dividing the attendances by all games played rather than just home games. eg. Hanworth Villa v CDroydon on saturday - att 125. Villa played away tonight but their average has gone down to 63.

If you enter fixtures without times will that not mean we'll get loads of A v A fixtures as sometimes you only add 1 and the rest of the page would appear?

No A v A is ignored.

One problem I was thinking about though is if we don't have a kick off time the system will not know when to remove the game from the fixtures list and make it available for editors to input the result. So we will have to have some hidden default time of 15:00 or something.

Looks like Whittlesford United have dropped out of the Cambridgeshire County League Premier Division. Their first game was postponed due to lack of players, now they have dropped off the listings altogether.

Edit - Seem to have taken the reserves place in BIS 1A.

In the Bedfordshire County League, Potton Wanderers needs to be removed from the Premier Division as they have withdrawn (the league (and I from NLM) have expunged their one result).

In the Spartan South Midlands League, Kingsbury London Tigers should be simply "London Tigers".

In the Bedfordshire League, Dinamo Flitwick have withdrawn their team from Division 3. Their results have been expunged.

However, they will still be running a team in division 4, taking over from their reserve side which needs its name changed to "Dinamo Flitwick [former Reserves]" to match what the Bedfordshire League appear to be calling them now.

A bit messy but do spend a moment to feel sorry for Renhold Village who beat them 10-0 last Saturday only to now see the result expunged!

South Devon League Premier Division.

Buckland Athletic Reserves have nine points. This is confirmed on the league's page on NLM ( http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/divisions/147/ ) as well as on the league's official site yet on the global league table they're showing as having 13 points ( http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/global/leaguetables/.
I saw the 4.33ppg which made me look into it.
Also, on the page on the NLM site there's no mention of the two points they've been awarded.

Yes I've been talking to John about this one. This stems from a game that Buckland drew 2-2 but it seems they were subsequently 'awarded' the game so they keep the point they earned from the draw and get an extra 2 points added.

Adding points seems to screw up the NLM global table so the only solution is to change the scoreline to 2-1 and not add any points. This makes the table correct apart from the goal difference being out by one goal.

Wincanton Town deducted 3 points for playing an illegible player (prob. Polish!)
Weymouth Reserves deducted 6 points for playing an ineligible player (3pts) and for not turning up (3pts)!

In other words the table on nonleaguematters is now incorrect, and one result shown is deliberately in error.

Without an objective of 100% accuracy the site loses credibility. Keeping up-to-date with points adjustments means tables will sometimes be lagging behind the 'official', that's understandable. Falsifying a result to overcome a software bug is just plain wrong.

Wouldn't it be better to take down the South Devon League Premier Division until such time as the problem is fixed?

It's a temporary solution that is designed to display this division on NLM as accurately as is possible. When I get a software upgrade I will get a fix.

The problem is that the official table showed Buckland (or did at the time) as Pl 3 W3 D0 L0 Pts 9 (+2 points added) despite still showing the match in question as a 2-2 draw. I can't replicate that. I had imagined that when a match was awarded to an opponent it would be by a default score of 3-0 or something. I didn't imagine that the score of 2-2 would stand, be recorded as a win and the club would keep the 1 point and have another 2 added.

the problem seems to the global PPG table. Where points as deducted you don't notice because that team wouldn't be in the top 250 but where points are added it shoots them straight to the top. It should be an easy fix then we can go back and change the result to 2-2 and add them their 2 points. Presumably that's what the official table will show aswell when they get their own software fixed.

Surrey Elite Intermediate League.
Weston Green Sports v Farnborough North End on 3rd September has been awarded to the home side as FNE failed to raise a team.
The official league table adds these games into the P, W & L columns but, as that's not possible on here, Weston Green Sports need a 3 point addition. A note at the bottom explaining the reason should be alright.
Or, I can record the game as 1-0 win which means the goals for and against will be wrong.

A few matches have been "awarded" in the Bedfordshire County League. Details are below. I am not sure how it is best to express these for NLM but am sure that others will have a good idea what to do.

Bedfordshire County League Premier Division
The Bedford Hatters 2 Wilshamstead 0 scoreline from 3rd September has been expunged. The match (and thus three points) have been awarded to Wilhamstead but with a 0-0 scoreline.

The Oakley Sports v Woburn match that should have been played on 3rd September has been awarded to Oakley Sports but with a 0-0 scoreline.

Bedfordshire County League Division One
The Marston Shelton Rovers v Lea Sports PSG match that should have been played on 1st October has been awarded to Marston Shelton Rovers but with a 0-0 scoreline.

Bedfordshire County League Division Three
The Goldington v Royal Oak Kempston match that should have been played on 10th September has been awarded to Goldington but with a 0-0 scoreline.

I'm not sure how to record these either. The software simply cannot handle a 0-0 win. It isn't something I had thought to include in the design so I can't even go back and get it fixed as a bug.

I would think the only way around this is to record these games as 1-0 for the time being. Then when we start on a software update I will talk to the develiopers about the best way to include this and we can go back and change these matches.

Completely understandable that you did not think to include this possibility. It does seem rather bizarre.

How about if 3 points are added to each of the teams to whom the matches were awarded with a footnote like "Bedford Hatters v Wilshamstead: Match awarded to Wilshamstead with 0-0 scoreline". The Played/Won/Drawn/Lost details will not be entirely correct but at least the points and goal difference will be correct and this is, of course, key to the correct positions in the table being shown.

There isn't really a facility to add points. Again it's somthing I didn't consider.

You CAN add points by putting a minus sign in front in the points deducted box on the team screen but this messes up the global points per game table.

However in any case this isn't going to make the table any more accurate than it is now as you rightly say. Doing it our way means that the W/D/L is correct but the goal difference is out by one. Doing it the other way means that the W/D/L is wrong but the goal difference is right however the global PPG table is meaningless. If those are the two choices then I think the 1-0 solution is better until we get a software upgrade to somehow handle these scenarios.

On that subject, and this is being pedantic, I see where points have been deducted it's always written as 'points were deducted' even when it's just one. Can this be changed or does the system automatically put it in the plural?

I had one case last season when a game which was never played was resolved by giving three points to one of the teams, without any goals being scored. The league themselves showed this in their final table as a 0-0 win. However, I tried to show, in the NLM table, and in one other which I maintain, what I hope is a more accurate picture. I showed the final table as the two teams in question having played only 41 games, rather than the full set of 42, with one of the teams being awarded three bonus points. And then adding a footnote on one of the websites explaining the reason. Showing only 41 games having been played also had the merit of not skewing the average attendance figures, something which some people regard as important.

I have added 1-0 victories instead of the 0-0 victories given by the league. This makes the tables in NLM correct apart from the odd goal.

St Neots Town Reserves have withdrawn from the league, although they are still in the table on the league's website. Probably waiting for ratification at the next league meeting.

Peterborough and District League Division One

Riverside Rovers found guilty of causing their match against Netherton United Reserves to be abandoned. 3 points have been awarded to Netherton, but the official table appears to show the match as a 0-0 draw. So the adjustment needs to be Riverside Rovers (-1 point), Netherton United Reserves (+2 points).

As the site is unable to accept '+' amendments to teams points totals at present without compromising the Global stats (please see various threads from steve) I have amended the result to a 1-0 win for Netherton. At least this way the points are correct and the table can be amended as soon as the neccessary changes to the programme have been made.

The match in the Conference South on Saturday 7th January between Havant & Waterlooville versus Dartford had an attendance of 802, not 349, which is currently showing and which is suspiciously near the amount of travelling supporters that Dartford brought. I saw them all because I was there. Wink

The fugure of 802 is what is stated in H & W's website and also Dartford's own website, too.

I think it's a server issue caused by a php security update. It's being looked at now.

HELLENIC PREMIER league table @ 02/03/12

... not sure if its me or not but there's a discrepancy or two betwixt the current Table on Mitoo and the main site :

... as far as I can work out Witney Town should be 20th with 19 points and only 5 wins; Henley Town also appear to have a win too many?

Hadn't checked closely against other sides (was initially only looking on NLM for the two I saw this week for my own records.) - but on 2nd glance at the respective sites, looks as if on NLM Fairford and Kidlington both have a loss too many - too.

EDIT: I wish I hadn't looked now Unsure

- a lot of clubs in this division on NLM have played an 'extra' match compared to Mitoo and I'd be quite surprised if the latter is adrift - sorry!

NB Only Shortwood, RTFC and Ascot appear to be on the same number of games in each table?

EDIT Two - think I may have found it! - there are 'double' results showing on NLM for the 10th December - and presumably these have been included in the table - hence the 'phantom' matches. Smile

Result from Mitoo for Sat 21st Jan shows 3-1 home win for RL NOT 3-2 as on NLM. P&T's clubs site backs up Mitoo also showing a 3-1 defeat.

Isthmian League Division One South.

Two result errors impacting goal stats of four teams on this table.

1) 29/8/2011 Worthing v Burgess Hill - incorrect score entry of 0-0, needs changing to 2-2.

2) 17/12/2011 Crawley Down v Merstham - incorrect score entry of 4-0, needs changing to 4-1.

I noticed these when doing a sense check of my own table and have since double checked against the Isthmian OS and Football Web Pages to confirm the correct scores.

Re. the Aldershot & District League changes. The text that's been put in isn't quite right. It says

Sussex League Division 1

Arundel and Lingfield have played 39 games, Ringmer and Redhill have played 37 in the table.
All the teams should be on 38 games played.

The following corrections need to be made:

November 26th
Pagham 2 Lingfield 1 should read Pagham 2 Redhill 1.

January 2nd
Sidley 1 Arundel 0 should read Sidley 1 Ringmer 0

I think that should put it right.

The Kent League's out as well.

There are five teams that have played 31 games in a 30 game season. Once Tuesday's game's played there'll be six.

The following is wrong:-

9th April
Herne Bay 2 Tunbridge Wells 3 is listed twice.
Deal 0 Corinthian 4 is listed twice
Holmesdale 1 VCD 0 is listed twice.

That still won't make it 100% correct as VCD have conceded 26 goals according to the Kent League website. Looking into this it may be the Kent League that's wrong though.

Also Erith & Belvedere have been deducted three points.

Match scheduled for 18th February, Dormans v Cargo Fleet has been declared a home win (i.e. for Dormans) with a 0-0 scoreline. I've input the match for this but not put in the result.

(This is a different issue to the earlier deduction of 3 points from Dormans)

I've had this many times with the Bedfordshire County League. What you need to do is put the result in as a 1-0 home win and ask (here) for a note to be added to the top of the table that explains that the result had to be entered as 1-0 but recorded in official tables as 0-0.

I have recorded this as a 1-0 home win and added an annotation to explain the situation at the top. Hopefully the improved software next season will do away with this sort of situation. Thanks to multilevel for his advice.

A game played on 21 Jan is showing as Romford 1 Chatham Town 1. It was actually Romford 2 Chatham Town 1, as per Isthmian League website and my own records (I was there).

I'm not sure if a note for this needs to be added or not. Depends how thorough you want to be.

Surrey Elite League.
12th May. Weston Green Sports v Coulsdon Town was abandoned due to a serious injury in the first half. It was 0-0 at the time. The league have decided not to replay the match and have awarded a draw, probably as it was the last game of the season and the result only affects the table slightly.
I've recorded it as a 0-0 draw which is fine for me but it's not technically correct.

There has been an adjudication on the unplayed Bacup v Colne NWC League Premier Division match

The adjusted table still shows each club as still having played 41 matches
