In memory of one of the most important people in the World of Football. All he did in this life was very much appreciated. Thanks Tony for opening up the wonderful world of real football to real fans.

I know and you knew you were leaving it all in capable hands.

I remember when I stumbled across this site many years ago I couldn't believe my luck! It was just what I'd been looking for at a time when I was just getting into non-league footy and for that I'm grateful to Tony and his endeavours over the years. RIP.

Despite knowing it was coming my heart sank when I saw the black border.
I feel so very sorry for his family, Tony was important to all of us but far more so to them.

A Top man. A Gentleman. And now, maybe, the patron saint of Non League Football.

Earth will be a worse place for his departure, where he has gone will become a great place for his presence.

Tony will surely be up there now looking down on us and hoping we will think of him each time we log on here or stand at a ground on a cold wet Tuesday night, he now has the grandstand seat and will enjoy all games he choses to watch.

I doubt anyone that follows Non League football will have missed using this site on more than one occasion.

A tribute to Tony great influance on the game is that one almost EVERY club website forum he has been mentioned and mourned but many thousands of fans.

I hope his family, at the terrible time, can find some happiness in the fact that Tony was loved by many thousands or people worldwide for his dedication, commitment and love of the game.

Tony Kempster - You will live forever in all our hearts and minds.

As one of those who counts themselves lucky enough to have met and watched a game with Tony, the fact that this news was expected any day now does not make it any easier to read.

As numerous other posters have already stated, this site has done more to bring football followers from various parts of the country together than any other venture.

RIP TK, you are already sadly missed.

Re: [Frank Hughes] Tony. [In reply to] Can't Post or Reply Privately

I shared several emails and the odd phone call with Tony when he was helping me put together a case to the UniBond league two years ago, that an East/West split at ULD1 would prove to be wiser than a North/South version. I was focussed only on the need to help my club Colwyn Bay, and even though I changed my request several times, Tony was patient with me and gave me hints in a way that only dawned on me later. I had promised to buy him a pint at our ground when it coincided with a visit of his to the snooker in Prestatyn; sadly that won't happen now.

I am writing this like many others i expect with tears in my eyes, some people have made a mark in this world and have not known the impact they have had on others,im glad that Tony and his family knew before he left us how much he meant to many people and how much his work and life was appreciated.
I read somewhere that we know not what death brings but the important thing is not to be afraid.
Tony's bravery and stoicism was well known.

His website has been a central part of my daily routine for more years than I can recall and I feel a sense of pride in being one of the members of his very special web community. I send my heartfelt condolences to the Kempster family at this very sad and difficult time. Rest in peace Tony.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. Tony's site helped keep me sane during four years abroad, and I will be eternally grateful.

RIP

Very sad news. Like so many who have posted here, I never met Tony, but a few years ago wrote to him and never expected a reply. I got one and that memory has remained with me. He was a true gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family.
