Step up to the plate BT Sports who informed us after the Citeh-Liverpool second leg that the Reds front three had now scored 73 goals between them this season, and then went onto give us the breakdown - Salah 39, Firmino 24 and Mane 16. Top totting

One from the BBC web site, reporting on Dan Micciche being sacked at MK Dons, it compares the record of Micciche with that of Chris Powell, appointed at Southend on the same day in January. "At that time the Shrimpers were 20th, just a place and a point above the Hertfordshire club." For those of you with little knowledge of geography, but wanting to work for the BBC, Milton Keynes is in Buckinghamshire.

A little knowledge of history wouldn't go amiss either when trying to work out where MK Dons are from Aren’t they from South West London ?

On Goal Rush on Saturday night, reporter Nick Halling said the Coventry v Morecambe game had shades of that infamous goalless draw between West Germany and Austria in the 1982 World Cup. IIRC the Germans won that game 1-0, they would have been out if had been a draw.

A few mistakes on the scoreboard at the Non League Finals day: They put a few tweets up on the board. One from a so called fan said :' At Wembley Stadium supporting Bromley Town!!' Another congratulated Valetta FC on their second consecutive FA Trophy win. The FA Trophy is the Maltese Cup. And finally there was a quiz. One question was : When was the first Non League Finals day? The correct answer was given as 2015, when it should have been 2016.

Repeated by many media outlets that Real Madrid had defeated the champions of France, Italy and Germany to reach the CL final tonight, all forgetting (or choosing to overlook) that Monaco were French Champions at the time Real played PSG

Don't know if this qualifies as a mistake or just utter drivel but Danny ("no dou' abou' tha'") Higginbotham on the EFL2 playoff final has just explained that both teams mirror their managers and, because both managers played under Ronnie Moore, it's no surprise the two teams are cancelling each other out!

It'll probably upset the humourless literalists on here for not being a factual error (perhaps we should start a 'Sports presenters bullshit' thread) but I did wince at the Sky commentator when Coventry scored their first yesterday: "It's the goal of his dreams, he has just touched the stars." FFS...

That one needed checking, but his last game for Levante was at Celta de Vigo. Could have got away with it had Levante finished the season in Madrid!

Did Phil Neville really say that Uruguay's fans will be hoping they "get further than they ever have before"?

Did Phil Neville really say that Uruguay's fans will be hoping they "get further than they ever have before"? Just missed the words ‘in Europe’ out from the end of the quote. They did win the Olympic Games title in Antwerp. Belgium won that won. However Uruguay did win the two other Olympic titles in the 1920s, in Paris and Amsterdam.

Gary Lineker confirmed when World Cup history began when he said that there had been more penalties in the group stage this year than at any time "since records began in 1966".
