Toolstation Western Premier
Meadow Lane
Westbury United 1 Street 1
Admission: 6 Paper available Attendance: 66

Was originally going to go to Hengrove but a last minute hitch meant I only had time to re-visit Meadow Lane; I'm not complaining as the games are usually "full-on" and this didn't disappoint.
Step 5 Western at its glorious best; two teams committed to attacking but ultimately cancelling eachother out. The home side will have felt they should have won this; lots of bickering between the players as the game wore on. But Street were competitive and stubborn; they made things difficult for the home side who had the better chances but were ultimately profligate in front of goal.
The home side led through Sam Jordan; all Western League afficionado's will know the name...he latched on to a bouncing ball 30 yards out and hit an absolutely unstoppable volley over a flailing keeper on 15. A sensational goal and I've seen many from him over the years at Bradford, Melksham, Paulton.
However... the home side couldn't capitalise...a clearance off the line on 28 and a couple of fine saves kept the away side in it. But Street were still in it; patient probing saw their winger shred Pinder at right back on 43 and his cross was turned by new signing Thompson in for the leveller. HT 1-1.
Second half was more of the same. Home side pressure and Callum Demkiv missed three good chances (his brother Dan was playing, obviously on dual forms with Mangotsfield) and the away side also had two sharp chances. A red card for Street on 88 induced a frenzy of attacking from the home side but it ended a draw; probably a fair result. Home in 20.
