Leatherhead 2-1 Lowestoft
Att 305 (30 visitors) Admission £10 Prog £2
A great start for Sammy Moore on his player/manager debut for the Tanners.
The pace of Kandi and the poaching instincts of Jack Midson, scorer of Levreds pair, did for the visitors. The ex-Wimbledon striker could well have bagged the match day ball had he not spurned the many chances that the Suffolk side presented him. The Lowestoft central pairing of Jarvis and recent signing Leacock (ex-Derby), looked sluggish from the off and were exposed as early as 6th minute when Midson sped between them to collect Kandis through ball and finish.
Dudzinski was clearly the busier of the two keepers and pulled off a couple of fine stops to not concede further before the break. Much the same followed in the second period and Midson doubled his tally on 78 mins as he gratefully put away the chance presented to him by Lowestofts chaotic defending.
The visitors grabbed a consolation at the death when dead ball specialist Adam Smith floated in a free kick from the edge of the area.
He picked out Cole perfectly, who rose to head past Oualah.
Fetcham Grove is a one of the Isthmians most delightfully picturesque venues and together with the locals usual cordial banter it's always worth a visit. Hoping for a better outcome though when we return next month to do battle with the tenants Kingstonian.
