Re: [AnotherGlassboy] "Outwith" or Reply Privately

What is it with Scottish people and this word? Rarely do I hear a Scottish voice on the radio without him or her busting a gut to shoehorn it into a sentence somewhere.

I'm fairly sure I've never once heard it used by an English person in my whole life...

My partner is Scottish and believe me, outwith is the least difficult of Scottish words or expressions.....Here are some used regularly....
Muckle= Large
Slitter= dribbled
Next again Day = Tomorrow or day after tomorrow ( still not sure)
Bucket=waste bin
Messages= Shopping
Pieces= Sandwiches
Hoi= Throw out
Skelped=cold/raw skin....or slapped across the face(hence raw skin)
Clapped= stroked ( as in cat/dog)
Old Years Night= New Years Eve
Y'Ken= Y'know
Wheest....shut it! ( e.g chatting to her when Strictly's on !)
Braw= good
Yin= one
twa=two
stays=lives
divnae =don't
div=do ( Scots Borders dialect)

There are loads more. I literally learn a new word most weeks.
